I gather you are referring to the 2 stroke Gimmy"s. the "53" is the designator for a 53 cu in cylinder and the 6 V ,means its a six cylinder in the V configuraion. The 6V71 is similar except 71 cu in per cylinder. There should be a data plate on the engine somewhere to denote which one you have. if you have a manual for the truck than there is probably a dseignator in the VIN # to designate the engine. If I had to guess, I"d say you had a 6V71 just because of the size of the truck.
