at $84/cwt for purebreed, bred heifers. Shoot, at that price, the delivery is free! Since they are already bred, that is another plus. If you get heifer calves, you can keep them to build your herd. As expressed by others, Hereford's are prone to some calving problems, but then again, there are alot of Herefords running on open range in the sandhills of Nebraska. Don't let them get too fat, that's when the problems start. DOnt' feed 'em, breed 'em. 900-1000 lbs is a good weight for a fresh heifer. Do bred them back to an Angus bull though. Those black baldy's are good calves, they gain well, and they are tough, and the feeder calf buyers like 'em.
