have a problem with a 88 mustang 2.3l 5 spd car. engine has a studder in it when blipping the throttle, also has a loud momentary knock, sounds like pre-ignition ping. motor sounds good after about 12-1500 rpms, holds steady. have checked ignition timing-right on steady, timing belt-right on, fuel pressure 40psi. cylinder leakdown, good. compression, cyl 1-125psi, 2-128 psi, 3-175psi, 4-180 psi. valve train works good, no bad lobes on cam. cyl 3 and 4 have real high cyl pressure. injectors seem to be good, plugs are a little black fuel fouled. plugs are new. problem started driving at low speed. any ideas where else to look??? i'm about ready to pull the head and peek inside... added oil when doing compression test, only came up a few lbs so rings look good. put the snap on scanner on, no error codes either.
