Depending on how big your plots are. If you are not real pressed for time and have a small disk you can disk it in. I have used a small wheel disk or a pull type. Set it as straight as possible and drive slow. Generally a disk will incorporate material at half the depth it is being run. So if it cuts in 3 inches deep you seed is being placed 1 1/2 inches. It even gives the effect of it being rowed. I dont think you will get it deep enough unless the ground is really rough. I have been doing this for 35 years now with good success.
I also like good productive food plots so I fertilize and spray. I do leave the outer edges unsprayed, about 10-15 foot unsprayed. This lets the foxtail grow up, which quail really like.
Unsprayed foods plots get taken by the weeds and produce very little grain. I also try to locate some " forage" type sorghum seed. It grows head high. I use that half and half with regular milo. The deer dont bother the tall milo as bad and you will still have a little seed left when the winter is bad.

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
