My chute is 7ft high sawmill run white oak 2x8's. I got a cow from the neighbor a few years back and he told me prior, she is a good cow, raises a big calf, but will jump over anything when you try to vaccinate her. That was my challenge! The first time she started down the chute, she tried going over. She got her front legs over the top, and I just stood and watched. She hung there for a couple of minutes, and finally gave up and came back down. I got her in the chute, gave her the works, and sent her on her way. I have vaccinated her every year since then. Just make it so they can't get away from you the first time. Once they figure out they can get away, your job just became 10 times harder.
