Depends on where you're at I guess... Around here, if they pester us long enough we'll cut it so it doesn't start pushing spruce bushes on them. The rent is the fact that if it doesn't remain in cultivation (the absence of said spruce bushes), they pay tax on those acres. Cultivated = No property tax. We don't pay rent. We don't crop share. We look after the land and we take the crop... Their choice. Trees or no trees...
