Gary is right. With all the desk top publishing software it is easy to produce a very realistic looking check that"s not worth the paper its printed on. For large $ items, its a very good idea to state ALL checks must clear before buyer can take possession and must be for the amount of purchase only or accept Paypal/Bidpay only. There seems to be some funny business on Ebay lately. We buy a lot of tractors parts, manuals, etc. and we"re seeing numerous bidders with no history and it looks like all they"re doing is running the bid up. I"m seeing sellers state in their auctions they reserve the right to cancel bids for bidders with less than 10 for a history - another good idea. Sorry for your aggravation.
