First Jeep I ever had back in 1976 had a plastic tube. I was driving down the Intersate when I noticed alot of smoke behind me. Thought I better pull over and check it out. When I opened the hood, the under hood blanket was blazing. Some how I threw enough dirt on the thing to put it out. Turned out the plastic oil line had melted and spit hot oil out. I saved the Jeep, my first 4wd. But that oil line was changed out to copper and never had another issue. If you use the plastic be careful where you route it. Mine was to close to the exhaust header.
