This is scary: "even put there health and well being before my own" Yikes! You can do that if you want, but around here the family is first, then other humans.... Animals are not human, so projecting humanlike emotion on them is insane in my OPINION. Don"t get me wrong, I think it is WRONG to treat any animal cruel for your pleasure. I.E. burning a dog, microwaving a cat. But there should be a thick line between cruelty and raising food. And it is shrinking, and that is just scary.
Not all producers can have a hobby farm and name all their cattle, or at least spend "quality time" with them. What would you do if your cow went down? Now can you do that with 5000 or more head?
This makes as much sense as the end of horse slaughter.
