Last summer we upgraded our furnace from 80% to +96%, 18 seer AC and 85% efficent tankless water heater hoping to offset some of the energy price increases.Did the installation myself so the cost wasn't too bad. This summer we will start working on our country place heating, cooling and hot water will be done by geothermal heat pump. During site prep 6000' of 1" high density polyethylene tubing will be buried about 8' deep.Insulation, thermal mass and passive solar design will keep energy needs very low.A correctly designed geothermal heat pump system can provide 300% of the electrical energy used to operate it.
