My friendly machine shop stocks it. I've looked it up. Its a trade name from some steel maker, about 120,000 PSI (mild steel is more like 50,000 psi) tensile strength, yet it machines well. Hitch pins for my 3 pt Long back hoe made of it don't break. Commercial hitch pins disintegrate from the hoe shoving and pulling. Yet I could make those pins on my little 6" Atlas lathe including cutting the threads. Its hard to get the little chuck to grip the stuff though because it just doesn't dent at ordinary chuck pressures. So when cutting 1-1/8" threads I have to make shallow cuts. Its important to make small zerk passages, say under 1/8" diameter from one end of the pin to the middle and a small or smaller hole crosswise. A 3/8" or 1/2" hole across the middle of a 1" pin will make it snap. I have the pieces to show that. Gerald J.
