I don't follow your description and a pic is worth a thousand you know. I like to keep my life simple too so I don't know how to shoot and post either. Grin.
I bought a used tractor once with European radial tires on it that were well weather cracked in the tread area. I noticed that part of the tread rubber cap was becoming unvulcanized from the tire's body up on the sidewall just above where the lug stops. After studying it for awhile, it seems it had sat for quite a while with a flat tire and that is what caused the problem.
