Local tv station did a report on the refund check. Many thought it was a taxable item and were corrected. Then they went on to ask random people what they were planning to do with the money. More than 90% stated it would be for paying delinquent bills and probably more than 60% of those claimed it would keep them afloat for a few months with lenders. Very few stated they would spend it just because they had it in hand. So, reality if you look at it the way I do, is that this is a very temporary fix that will only put money in the pockets of the utility companies and prevent forclosure for another month or two. Not a fix at all, expecially if it goes to another country.
