Was in a machine shop the other day and talked to them about how much trouble I was having getting some nuts to loosen up. One of the workers told me to soak it in water. He pointed out a 55 gallon barrel of water that they had in the shop and that they used it for soaking and loosening rusted parts. The boss was standing there and said "guys, we don't get paid to reveal our secrets." The worker explained to me that moisture caused the problem and the penetration of water would loosen it.
I have often wondered if water would loosen up stuck engines.
I have tried this on rusted front end part on a tractor, ie tie rod ends, and it works for me.
