Had Hughes for 15 months... day my contract expired I had the service shut off... what an expensive load of crap.
I now have Sprint wireless broadband, unlimited package... I get DSL speeds and most of the time better than DSL. Never any service outages... It kicks Hughesnet's butt all over the place...
I don't pay any more for Sprint than I would have for Hughes after the equipment payback period ended. For the same price I get 1 1/2 to 2 X the download speed and 2 - 3X the upload speed...
I have no other options other than satellite or what I have now.. no cable, no dsl, no wi-fi.
Wildblue I believe will terminate your contract if you exceed the threshold for a certain period of concurrent months... Wildblue last I knew had a MONTHLY thru-put limit and once reached you were pretty much kaput until the next month.
Hughesnet has a 24 hour rolling FAP policy...
Both blow donkey balls....
Not to mention, from Noon until about midnight you might as well just shut it off and go do something else... Hughes was extremely slow during peak periods for me.
Satellite providers have oversold their business and are overloading the capabilities of their equipment, hence the FAP policies.
