I just bought a #12 a couple of months ago for the same reasons that you are considering these. Something to look at is the condition of the rails that the plunger rides on. Mine need to be replaced but I don't plan to buy a bunch of parts from AGCO. I have purchased some flywheel bushings and slip clutch friction disks and they were expensive. Availability was not a problem but prices have persuaded me to consider fabricating as many items as I can. One other item to check is the condition of the knotters. Have they been greased and lubed properly? If you can wipe grease away and see factory paint, they've had proper care. If you have to chip hardened grease away or only see rust, stay away.
