If you want to make a statement and get noticed, the only engine is a Detroit. Perferably a 3-53 or 4-53. You won't need a radio because you won't be able to hear it at any speed. They are available on eBay frequently. I have had a 4-53 in a '47 1.5 ton International since the early '70's. The front end needed a few more spring leafs.
About the same time I put a 220 Mercedes diesel in a '32 Ford pickup. That is the four cylinder version of the 300. I made an adaptor out of 3/4" aluminum plate. I used a '39 Ford tranny. The front end was adequate.
