I don't think you need to split a D series AC to get the flywheel out. You can pull the engine to do it, but when one thinks about it, I'll bet splitting is easier. You can do the ringgear without taking the flywheel off. Just use a torch to heat the old one and it should drop right off. Put the new one in the oven for an hour or so at around 200 degrees. Quickly put the hot ring gear on the flywheel and wait for it to cool. Should work. We've always done ring gears at an out of frame overhaul, but I'm thinking you could do it with the flywheel on the engine. Will have to split it, or pull the engine though. Aaron
