I wrote a term paper on Global Warming a number of years ago.
If past patterns prevail, right now the Earth is nearing the end of a 10,000 year warming cycle and withing 2,000 years will plunge into another ice age.
There have been times in the past when the average temp on Earth was as much as 14 degrees warmer than it is now, and Al Gore has his shorts in a knot because the average temp has raised a degree or so in the last century.
Global warming nuts are freaked out because the polar ice caps are receding a bit. The polar ice caps didn't even exist until 200 million years ago. I know, 200 million years isn't exactly overnight, but considering the Earth is 3.6 BILLION years old, 200 million isn't even an eyeblink.
To put it in perspective, if the entire 3.6 billion year life of Earth were compressed into one year, man's entire known history would begin at 2 seconds until midnight on December 31.
