WELL I DID THE SAME THING EXCEPT IT WAS A RED IH THAT I GOT. MY DAD HAS NEVER HAD ANY THING BUT DEERE'S BUT I FOUND A REAL NICE 986 WITH CAB AND NO TA SO I BOUGHT IT LAST MAY, WE HAVE A 4230, 4440,3010 THE 986 SEEMS TO HAVE A LITTLE WEAKER HYD THAN THE DEERE, IT DOES NOT HANDLE QUIT AS WELL AS THE 4230, BUT IT IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL START ON A COLD DAY. FOR THE MONEY I THINK IT IS ALRIGHT. ONE THING I DON'T LIKE IS THE TRANNY LINKAGE ON THE LEFT SIDE, AND IT DON'T SHIFT WORTH A CRAP.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
