Like Larry said......Line up the coupler with the shaft and push it on. It should go forward roughly 1" and stop. On the side of the coupler is a button sticking out that you push in then the coupler will go all the way onto the shaft.
Release the pin and pull the coupler backwards (toward you) and you should hear the pin lock in the groove cut in the shaft for this purpose.
