Okay I checked into prices for foam insulation and cellulose insulation, I can't afford either one. But I have an idea for creating a valley vent which would eliminate the need for using foam. I plan on cutting a hole the length of the valley like you do for the ridge vent. And then I'm going to lay 2' wide plywood the length of the valley and shingle over top of plywood. The top will be capped like a regular peak. Air will flow in at the bottom and exit through each bay's ridge vent. I mocked up a sample and I will have an oppening about 4" high in the the middle tapering down to 0" in 22" It looks like it will flow enough air. I'll have a screen or cobra mesh to keep critters out. Does anyone see any problem with this setup? Will the inspector Ok it, I live in north central Ma.
