Went to look at the All-Crop combines this weekend that I talked about in a previous post. As luck would have it I threw out my back just before I went to look at them and was in misery at the time. They look to be in fairly good shape except for the hitches and tires. Just didn’t feel comfortable hauling them 130+ miles on their own. I wouldn’t mind it if I could get them on a trailer which I’m sure I could do but them its legally a wide load. I called the NYS DOT today about the feasibility of getting a wide load permit. They were nice but really didn’t give me much info and said I really needed to apply in person. They made it sound possible at least for an individual to do. Anyone have any current experience in doing this before I talk to them further? Any tips or tricks? The whole trip would be in New York State from Northern NY to Central NY. By far the easiest route would be primarily I81 and State Route 20.
