I have a water leak at the front of the engine behind the air compressor I can see it comming from a gasket, using a mirror. I can't find my manual so I am needing some help here. What is the upper manifold gasket, and lower manifold gasket. Has anyone tackeled this job? Looks like a big pain in the, you know where. Any help apperciated Stan
upper manifold gasket seals the intake plenum to the intake manifold, lower gasket seals the manifold to the heads and block, your problem is the lower gasket, GM had huge trouble with this due to broke down dex cool eating out gasket components, have done the job many times, you are right it is not fun, depending on the year you may be eligble for some reimbursement due to a class action lawsuit filed agains gm and dexcool, I cant remember where to find it maybe someone can help with that. good luck!
