My neighbor ran the guy who has been renting his farm off and has hinted that he wants my to put up his 10 acres of hay. I have ask other farmers the going rate (on shares) and most have advised to put it up for 1/2 if he fertilizes and 2/3 if he does not fertilize. I have got a feeling he is going to want 1/2 if he fertilizes or not. The hay is next to my hay fields and I do not have to load and unload and pull equipment around the countryside. Can I come out at 1/2 shares? What is the going rates in other places? Thanks for any advise on this.
