When you ger your (feeler gage) you need to place the piston down in the cylinder and see how thick of a thickness you can get down the side of the piston. Looking does not cut it. I can take a piston and make it look like brand new in my lathe but it will not necessarily work in any cylinder. It really needs to be checked with a 4 inch mic. Same as the cylinder diameters. If you have a wide ring gap you do not have a good matchup of piston and sleeve.
