I use a simple formula where I base the overhaul point at 5000 hrs. This doesn't mean the tractor will need overhaul at 5000 hours but it gives me a level playing field. I take the number of hours on the tractor and subtract it from 5000. I then assume the useful life (to me) of the tractor is what's left. Then divide the number of hours left into the asking price and see what the cost value per hour is. It might surprise you to find that the lower hour tractor might be a better buy considering the cost per hour. I ended up buying a new tractor last time because it figured out to be cheaper per hour than the used ones I was looking at. Got a warranty and better terms too. This works for me, but I mainly buy small tractors. You might need a 10,000 hour base for bigger tractors.
