Plugged with dirt. I've blown them out in a pinch, or leave the cap 'just loose enough', but the best solution is a new cap. When it acts up, shut the engine off and quickly go and open the cap. If you hear it suck air, you found the problem. In addition to what Rick mentioned regarding the air filters, I'll also suggest that you make sure that the crankcase breather is not restricted. I have an LS, and on those machine it's simply a piece of soft PVC hose running down in the area of the engine oil filter. If it gets kinked, the crankcase will pressurise and act much the same way..... Don't ask how I know.
