Can't say for sure on this planter of Monsantos but I built a few pieces and parts for those planters at the weld shop I use to work at.
The guys riding have packets of seed pre counted to a certain number (20 or so, each packet is the same) of kernals. They keep opening the packets in order and dump them in a tube that feeds the seed units. The plot is all plotted out ahead of time to get the hybreds where they want them.
