So far it's been dry for 2-3 weeks with a soaker in between the last 2-3 weeks of dry weather. 200 acres behind us is planted in corn, just no rain. Most fields are planted, except the ones furthest from the farms.
I've mentioned it before, but after being drenched for years straight, everything that passes through is a left over storm breaking up, except when we do get a soaker, no thunderstorms yet, between now and into July seems to be the best time of year for em. Last night a system came through, supposed to rain but did not do enough to wet the dust in the driveway. Great weather for working outside, grasses are not growing at record pace like in previous years.
The 7 acres of oats I was worried about is up 3"-4", and it looks good, execept one symmetrical swath down the middle, looks like the seed population was not as thick as the rest, it must have been drilled in, and what left was on top I think could have been dragged and rolled to max out germination, just seemed like a lot of seed, though it usually pays off to really seed it well when it comes to grasses, clovers and similar around here.
Hate to say it but we do need rain here, those oats will take off, and I've harrassed the heck out of the geese, they're getting wary of me and that field, though I've got 2 of the 2 dozen young here brooding and feeding, seem like they'll easily make it too, sent the rest back, saw em head to the adults, they stopped bringing em over so far which is a good thing, if we get some rain, those oats will grow enough and they'll not bother with em.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
