I have some smaller feilds,5acres or less each. That I am thinking of seeding hay in for baling to get these cows/calves through the months. What is the best mix for beef cows? It is lighter ground. Will be bales as rounds. Also, is there a short season balable forage that I could plant right after the oats and rye has been harvested and baled off? I know it is a dry time of the year to get germination but is there anything. I want to buy, grow, harvest as much forage as possible for my quickly growing herd, dont wanna get caught short of hay, getting real tight right now, still need to finish fencing to get the ol gals out in the grass. Really sick of feeding small squares, they do not waste much at least!
