Lanse, really, take a look at it like this. You have a small light built tractor meant to mow and to run a loader. Your plowing with it. You would be much better off with a Ford style utility tractor, such as a Massey 2605 or John Deere 5103 since your dad has a perchant for new (That style tractor hasn't had any major improvements since the 2000 series Fords). Dont see why, Our Ford 601 Workmaster is one of the most reliable pieces of equipment we have, and plenty of power. You wont kill that. Oh, and I second you on Kubotas being light, because I see none doing heavy tillage. Heck, a 4WD Kubota M9540 at 85 horsepower weighs 5500 pounds, whereas a good tillage tractor would weigh at least 8500 to 9000 pounds. No thanks. And I do know about using a light tractor for heavy work. Massey Ferguson 399, 95 horse, 9000 pounds, water in both rear tires, heavycast rears, 4100 hours and it's rough and it has been taken care of and maintained. Not bashing it, it has paid its dues, but it is down to the point either I recondition it at $$$, I sell it and bring back our 1100 as a little more capable and semmingly more reliable than this, or I trade for new and larger framed re not bigger tractor. Will lose a friend if I sell, I spent many hours riding shotgun with dad, but still, I need a good tractor that can last under heavy tillage.
