I cannot believe what I'm hearing from you guys. Sound like a bunch of babies. I just had to shut down my business too, go to work for someone else, I'm not crying. The economy goes up and down, and we have to adjust, (and prepare). But the pessimistic attitudes you all have is quite depressing. Many of you I've read much from in the past, mostly about tractors, and had some respect for. OLD, your saying we are heading for a depression is wrong and wrongheaded. We are not even in a recession yet, which is defined as 6 months of negative gross national product growth. We haven't even had one month of negative growth.

You know, unemployment is still under 5%, that's FULL EMPLOYMENT. And as far as the banks go, congress pressured them to make loans to all those high risk borrowers, so put some blame there too. We need to toss about 3/4 of the house and Senate to get us on the right track again.

I think the very high fuel prices have a lot of us down. That's the very thing that put me out of business as I was driving for a living. Those prices wouldn't be where they are if we all hadn't stood by and watched environmental groups pressure our government into stopping us from exploring for and bringing to market our own domestic oil. That's an undisputable fact. It used to be that whenever oil prices started going up we would increase our output, then opec would increase theirs to keep it too cheap for us to continue. We can no longer do that because we can't get at our oil. That's a big deal.

My own grandfather, whom I admire and respect more than anyone, has the same view as many of you. He often says there is just too much money in the world. Well, I understand where he, and many of you, are coming from. We all work very hard for what seems like so little. But I think a lot of that is the leftist media working on us. We see so much of how the other side lives now, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and all. But when things are decent, does it bother you then? Always have been and always will be richer and not so. Without rich people investing in new ventures and new businesses there are no new jobs. That's part of the free market, like it or not.

I just really hate to see so many of you fine Americans buying into what the pop culture tells us is important. To me, having enough food to feed the family, a roof over our heads, and lots of love to go around is all that matters. Things will get better, enjoy what we have now. We had a great Memorial Day here, didn't you?

Now let the slamming begin, I can take.

Brian

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
