That is a loaded question. Depending on the age of the 88 the oiling system for the rocker arms may not be the same as for the Super and then the problem at this age of the tractor is getting enough oil to the valves.Have you taken the valve cover off and run it and see how the oil flows. Also look and see where the oil line enters the rocker arm shaft. Me I would do a compression test, maybe even work both of them a day under load and see what happens. Does the thermostat work, does it get into the normal temperature range? You need to do some detective work on your end first.
