It seems when you have overcast skies, their reflection is more visible, have had the same problem 2 years in a row with birds doing this, as well as those that slam right into the glass on occasion.
I had a female cardinal slam into the garage door window once, was laying on the ground in shock, by right she should have been D.O.A. was cold in Dec. etc.
Both eyes blood red, shock from the impact not to mention she was fading quickly it seemed. Brought her inside, the heat was a good thing, took awhile but being out of the cold immediately gave her an edge, had I not been standing there when it happened.
Once she was feeling better, she started eating sunflower seeds, so I kept her fed and provided water, made a perch for her. She flew once in the garage, landed, I went over and offered my finger as perch and she climbed on, she would not leave, so I kept her until the one day I took her outside and she finally flew away, have that on video too.
