Today I worked 4 hours then went home to the farm. Sun was shining and looked nice, so despite the weather forecast Dad & me decided to just cut the 1 feild we plan to plow under yet and put corn into. I got the headlands cut and just swung it to the left side for the 2nd time of the season when a metal line blew for the swing. I took it as a sign to quit and wait until the shops are open on Monday.
Just a couple drops so far but we're under tornado watch here until 8 yet. Coulda either fixed it with hoses put together (18' long) or hooked onto the 9' New Idea haybine, but figure it just isn't worth trying to rush it yet.
O well. Monday or so we'll bring in the bad line to a local shop that makes steel lines and have them make 3 (2 for the swing, 1 for the lift) as they're all getting rusty under the clamps, which is where the one line blew.
Hopefully next weekend is better so we can cut TH/Fri and chop Sat/Sun. So far they call for rain overnight on Thursday, and probably all next weekend too.
Plus side is, the hay had a slow start because of the cold spring. Now some of it looks to be about waist tall and it's still growing. Saw 1 bloom, that was it. We Oughta fill a 9'x150' bag pretty fast with it...

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
