I inherited a Gilson Super Standard Rotary Tiller when my father-in-law passed away back in 1969. It is a Model 10 343 01. I always left gas in it over the winter without using stable and never had to do anything other than engine oil changes and check gear oil level over the past 39 years until today. It would not run loaded---found some cotton wood plugging the carb main jet supply screen. So, I decided to change the plug, points, condencer, & carb diaphram for the first time ever as well as clean out the gas tank. What a fantastic machine! I was wondering what year it was built?---serial number 678175. I have one additional question for anyone familiar with this model. Reverse does not work---hasn't since I obtained it in 1969. Is there a separate belt for reverse? If so, could someone copy me with what size it is. I can only see one belt and have never removed the engine from the tiller. I have no parts list for the tiller but was able to download an engine manual from Briggs & Straton. Thank you for your support.

From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
