The crank adjustments will have little effect on the crimping of your crop. If you want to greatly improve the crimping/crushing action and reduce drying time of crop , set the rollers closer together ( roller gap). The cranks do not do this. Set the roller gap by removing some of the roller gap shims at each end of the roller mounts. Your operators manual has directions and photos for doing so.Take out enough of them to leave only a crack of daylight visible between the rollers. As they came from the factory there was 3/16 "or more gap between the rollers. Reduce the gap to nearly nothing and your Haybine will do a much better job of crimping/crushing.
