You need to ask around home. In my county the last few years there are alot of people giving $200 plus a year for good ground, with good drainage, and covered with broiler litter the last 10 years. One county away you can have all the hill ground you want for $5 over CRP price.
If you think this is low, ask the farmer at the end of the year if he would offer more. Put word out you are taken bids. Ten years ago some around here started paying $150. This older guy was at the coffie joint where they were talking about it. Said that was more than he made most years, if some one would offer him that in a 5 year contract he would enjoy retierment. When he got home there were people waiting in the drive way and the phone was rign'n off the hook. Had his equipment sale in the paper 2 weeks later. He had several houndred acres of good ground, don't know if people are going to chase you down like that for it, but ask some people who farm close by what they would offer.
