I have been a township trustee for over a number of years and that is not how we do things. We meet once a month and conduct the business of the township. We spend and account for the money as if it was our own. If we had this happen we would certainly try to return it and if they wouldnt take it we would use it to improve the infrastructure of the township. Alot of people bash township government but here in rural IL it is government of the people, buy the people, for the people, not a bunch of politicians in a big fancy building spending our money and getting rich. If you havent been, then go to a meeting and get involed. Meet your officials and get to know them. They will be happy to hear your concerns and will address them. Governemnt fails to work when we have no voice. You can easily have a voice at the township level so dont be afraid to be heard. bill
