That pump should work for a splitter. I don't know the spec. on the pump. But in general... The larger hole is the intake, the smaller one is the output. Turn the shaft and see wich way it draws. If you can see the gears you want the inside to turn twards you, outside away if you are looking in the input side. When you build it. DO NOT reduce the size of the hoses to or from the pump(it is a positive displacement pump) As far as speed, ?. May be around 500 rpm or around 1000-1500-2000. As far as gpm, you shouldn't have any trouble. You will need a pressure relief valve (probably set to 2000 psi or so). And a flow control valve(basically an adjustable orfice), this will let only a small portion of oil go to the cyliender and the excess will go back to the return. This will slow the cyliender down to your desired speed. Good luck ps. be sure the cyliender you are using is rated to the psi of the pump/relief valve, if it is off a piece of farm machinery it should be ok. You may also contact the mfgr. of the pump if you can find a nameplate or stamp.
