I'm not sure which one you're looking for, but here's them both.
It's U-shaped so that once the pedals are 'tied' together, you can still catch the sole of your shoe under the upper 'lug' and disengage them.
Also, there's a springy piece of flat metal on it's axle within the pedal that provides some resistance and acts to keep it from flopping around.
I'm not sure that the pawl in the second photo is shaped exactly right, because it doesn't want to stay engaged in the ratchet. One of these days, I'm going to have to pull out the file.
