Do you have a solenoid on your TO-30? The OEM system doesn"t have one. It uses a switch actuated by the transmission lever. They sometimes need adjusting or they just go bad due to arcing. If you have a solenoid and are just getting a click (indicating that the solenod is closing the circuit to the starter),try cleaning the battery terminals and connectors. If that doen"t work, and the solenoid clicks but the starter doesn"t turn, the main contacts in the solenoid are probably arced and need replacement OR the starter is bad. You can check the starter by MAKING SURE THE TRACTOR IS OUT OF GEAR, and connecting a booster cable directly to the starter. If it turns then the problem is in the solenoid. You can start just about any spark ignition engine with a good ignition system with a crank or by getting it rolling and popping the clutch.
