Lanse if the broken fitting is brass a file or an easy out won't work as the brass is just too soft.They will just bury into the brass.What i do is take a very small chisel or an old screwdriver with a sharp blade and working carefully around the fitting,i start tapping the brass inward "not deeper in the hole"towards the center until it loosens itself from the threads in the casting.After it loosens from the threads you can then get it out.As for the broken peice of file try bumping it in the reverse direction with a small chisel.Then grip it with a good pair of needle nose pliers to pull it out.After you get the fitting out its a good ideal to restore the threads in the block.Be sure to use a tap with the correct thread pitch and size.Its probably a 1/8 pipe thread.Good luck.
