I can agree with just about all that. If you check out why they've gained in popularity tho. These companies that hang to these Detroits are getting a heck of a deal. The same truck with a Cat or Cummins either one will cost the price of the engine more than the same truck with a Detroit. If your only buying 1 or 2 trucks Detroit don't care about your business you will pay full price. If you're buying several every few years they will do what ever it takes to win you over. If you check out who designed the fuel system and injector pump on a Detroit it will blow your mind unless you already know. To me personally I don't care if we use Ford Falcon engines or let the customer pick everything up I'll still be watching these expense tickets and maintenance bills. The best truck going now is a Mack with the 454 or 490 in it. We had one on loaner with a 490 Mack in it and over all it beat these Detroits and the Cat. The only trouble with it was that the only man who would drive it is gonna retire next year. These chain drive billfold, flip flop wearing tatoo bill boards we have for drivers can't drive a Bulldog it crimps their image.
