Replace the fluid with 90w GL-1 Gear Lube. Transmission, differential, and lift all use the same fluid. GL-1 is recommended over hydraulic fluid. Check out the 8N Ford Forum. Do not overfill or it will come out of the rear axle seals. Take out the bottom bolt in the right inspection cover that holds the dipstick, and fill until the fluid begins to run out. Probably will not take 5 gallons, about 4 1/2. The milky color comes from water in the system. Also you need to drain all of the old fluid out, and drain from three plugs.
