Gar Wood was a industrialist who built bodies or coaches for the early automakers. He also raced hydroplanes and was a pioneer in that also. I would be interested in how old that sign is. By the 50's Gar Wood Industries had a plant in Wayne, Michigan. About 20 miles west of Detroit. I would guess that the sign would be from the 30's or earlier?
