Does anyone know The model 1350 was the last and biggest Cockshutts produced with the Cockshutt name on them ?
In referring to my old 1993 "Hotlne Farm Equipment Guide" I notice the Cockshutt 1350 listed with a 585 CID Diesel MM engine, produced between 1966 and 1968. This tractor has 143 PTO hp, has a 10/2 speed transmission, weighs in at 12,900 lbs.,listed for $13,665,and had an average auction price (in 93) of $3,416. From the serial number spread for the years when this model was manufactured it looks like they stamped out 297 of these tractors in 1966, 1,405 in 1967, and ? in 1968. This is according to the Hotline Farm Equipment Guide.
Now, realizing that White Motor Company took over Cockshutt, Oliver, and Minneapolis-Moline between the years 1960-1963 and apparently things went a little wild with what models were coming out with whose name on them, before White produced their own tractors. (Please correct if I'm wrong as some of this is speculation on my part) According to Lester Larsen in his book Farm Tractors 1950-1975, P.124 "The Oliver 2155 (Same as the Minneapolis-Moline G1350 except for paint) developed 135 PTO hp using the Minneapolis-Moline 585 cu. in. diesel engine with the M.A.N. combustion system." I'm assuming all they did was change paint guns from yellw, to green, to red.
Of course in 1973 Moline G1350 was changed to the G1355 and the Oliver 2155 was changed to the Oliver 2255 ( and Oliver changed to the Cat 573 Cu. in. V-8 diesel)
Apparently at this pont White Motor changed production of the MM G1355 tractor from the old MM Lake Street tractor plant in Minneapolis,MN to the old (but newer) Oliver tractor plant in Charles City, Iowa. Also White Motor Co. started marketing this same tractor in Canada as the White 2270, according to Lester Larsen (P.145).
I have heard that were also Cockshutt 1600,1650,1700,1750,1800,1850,1900 and 1900/1950 tractors that of course originated as Oliver models. I am assuning might have

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
