There's a fix for that 4840. Get a wide front off a 70-series or 90 series Case and put it on. Someone made a kit to do it. Have seen Case fronts on JD 3020, 4020, 4230, 4440 so far. All of those particular tractors had been equipped with loaders at one time or another in their lives. There are a couple WFE Super M for sale in Hamburg PA. Fords can pull plows. My grandfather made it happen. But then he got the MF65 in 1959 to do the plowing. Guess he got tired of fighting the Jubilee (which despite that is still on the farm). I have a JD 4020. I don't think it's too bad. I bought it because it is in good shape, and it came at a good price. Looked at many other colors around here, all were pretty well beat and priced on the high side. Never did like Harvester's TA, (ran a couple IH tractors for others) but that's my opinion. Kinda cool rumbling around on the F-20. Yuppies like to slow down and look when they see it planting soybeans with the JD FB drill. Now if I can find a road gear setup for it . . . .

From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
