Consider peas if you have critters to eat the crop. Austrian field peas or some mixed yellow -Wisconsin vegatable fields would be putting in the fall crop of peas about now, beans for grazing and plow down also about now for a second crop. Mixed oats and peas sometimes used for silage, green chop and occasionly baled for feed. Clover rotations old standard. If you have 2 grown horses the pea stover with some pods will be a fair winter feed. Soybeans now- a little close to frost in Wisconsin but Southern Illinois would get mostly grown and dried down. Chinese Black high protein soybeans are shorter season for green harvest- make fair animal and human food. RN
